Celebrate our New President-Elect
I propose that we sponsor a celebration and thank you event for our volunteers, donors, and all those who helped make our campaign a success. We can reserve a pavilion and bring a grill or two, and create a festive and relaxed atmosphere for all our supporters!

Make Victory T-Shirts
I propose that we create a Victory T-Shirt that celebrates this historic moment, and honors the campaign we have all worked hard to see through to fruition. Our shirt should include the name of our local group (South Texas Democrats), as well as sport a cool graphic layout!

Because we saw overwhelming support for this idea (not necessarily from UserVoice, but mainly from a number of enthusiastic emails) we decided to go ahead and print Victory T-Shirts! You can get yours by contacting Rey Chavez at (956) 289-6057.

Train Local Volunteers
I propose that we train local volunteers in key organizing skills, including but not limited to hosting a phone bank, planning a neighborhood canvass, and launching a successful fundraising drive, among other possible ideas. We can keep our volunteer base involved, and empower them in a way that will allow them to stand up for their beliefs, regardless of the candidate they support. That mission has all the makings of a non-profit organization.

This will require a lot of preparation and work (creation of articles of incorporation, etc.) but will also reveal the level of our commitment, and will make clear to those who hope grassroots political organizing is just a passing craze, that we are here to stay - and our supporters crave change not just in Washington, D.C., but right here in South Texas!

Host the 2010 State Convention at the Island
I propose that we press our elected officials and party representatives, as well as take the initiative upon ourselves, to convince the State Party to hold the 2010 State Democratic Party Convention on South Padre Island. In a state where more than half of the 28 'Obama blue' counties lie South of San Antonio, and form a contiguous block that stretches from Laredo to the Island, it would make sense to center any effort to take back the state in this region. Especially when you consider that Valley Democrats, and South Texas Democrats in general, have been overlooked and excluded… more
